Role and Responsibilities Of President

Pre conference

  • Location of Conference: Will approach renal units as to their interest in hosting the Annual Conference
  • Conference Agenda: based on feedback from members and conference evaluation will decide with other committee members on topics for next conference agenda
  • Speakers: to send letters/email to each speaker confirming details of sessions
  • Attendance Certificates: photocopy and sign attendance certificates
  • Pre conference dinner: To organise pre conference dinner
  • President to print: Outgoing list of committee and link members for AGM

During Conference

  • Speakers: to meet each speaker at the beginning of the conference
  • President should act as first chairperson, introduce her/himself and outline the important role INNA plays in the continuing professional development of nephrology nurses. Welcome delegates, speakers and industry partners; outline house rules and introduce the delegates to the title of the conference and the opening speaker.

Post Conference

  • Send out thank you letter/card to speakers and sponsors.

Regional Meeting/Clinical Skills Workshop

  • Location of Regional Meeting: Will approach renal units as to their interest in hosting the Annual Conference
  • Speakers: to meet each speaker at the beginning of the Meeting
  • Should act as first chairperson, introduce her/himself and welcome delegates, highlight the role INNA plays in continuing professional development of members. In the case of the Regional Meeting will introduce local organiser who will act as chairperson for the rest of meeting and thank local organising committee and speakers for their contribution to the meeting

Committee activities

  • Will act as chairperson at INNA committee meetings and AGM

Role and Responsibilities of Treasurer

Pre conference

  • Conference Agenda: based on feedback from members and conference evaluation will decide with other committee members on topics for next conference agenda
  • Treasurer is to print list of members; print spare copies of finances to hand out

Conference

  • Registration Table: organise with Secretary registration station for conference
  • Present report for AGM

Committee activities

  • Application for membership is to be communicated to treasurer
  • Record of attendance at Committee Meetings: Maintains a record of attendance and minutes of meeting

Role and Responsibilities of Secretary

Pre conference

  • Location of Conference: Will approach renal units as to their interest in hosting the Annual Conference
  • Conference Agenda: based on feedback from members and conference evaluation will decide with other committee members on topics for next conference agenda
  • Distribution List: maintains address labels for distribution list
  • Sponsorship List: maintains sponsorship list with committee member assigned to this task
  • Sponsors: assists committee member who is responsible for organising and confirming conference/event sponsorship.
  • Secretary prepare report for AGM

Conference

  • Registration Table: organise with Treasurer registration station for conference
  • Present report for AGM

Regional Meeting/Clinical Skills Workshop

  • Location of Regional Meeting/Clinical Skills Workshop: Secretary and President will approach renal units as to their interest in hosting the Annual Conference

Committee activities

  • Address for the Association will be that of the Honorary Secretary
  • Dates/Venue for Committee Meetings: Sets dates/Location and venues for committee meetings. This is done at the May meeting for the following year include the date for next May meeting
  • Minutes of Committee Meetings: Maintains a record of the minutes of meeting. Emails these minutes including action points to committee members two weeks after the meeting
  • Distribution List: corporate, health service providers and colleges
  • Formats and distributes an email via the INNA website to members giving notice of the AGM and deadline for return of motions for consideration at the AGM.

Role and Responsibilities Of Education Officer

Pre conference

  • Present summary of conference evaluation at the May committee meeting
  • Conference Agenda: based on feedback from members and conference evaluation will decide with other committee members on topics for next conference agenda
  • Category I Approval: write to write to An Bord Altranais seeking category I approval. This should be completed on finalisation of agenda.
  • Prepare presentation for AGM

During conference

  • Conference Evaluation Forms: bring photocopies of conference evaluation forms to conference venue. These will be included in conference delegate pack.
  • Load up presentation onto PC equipment
  • Establish a method of collecting conference evaluation forms
  • Present report for AGM

Post Conference

  • Review conference evaluation forms and present summary to committee at May meeting

Role and Responsibilities Of Public Relations Officer

Pre conference

  • Conference Agenda: based on feedback from members and conference evaluation will decide with other committee members on topics for next conference agenda
  • Printing and Distribution of Conference Flyer
  • Printing of Conference Agenda
  • Advertisement of Conference
    • Organise the advertisement of Conference in the INO world in nursing magazine, indicating the conference title; venue; date and contact person for further information.
    • Organise the advertisement of Conference through the use of Flyers which provide information on the venue, date and agenda. Arrange printing and post flyers to those on the distribution list (which should include renal units and colleges that provide renal courses). Accommodation list, directions to conference venue and draft of agenda should be included with Flyer. Address labels for Distribution List are available from Secretary.

During Conference

  • Pro double check Powerpoint equipment, catering & conference room on the day with Local Organiser Member

Location of Regional Meeting/Clinical Skills Workshop

  • Flyers for Regional meeting/Clinical Skills Workshop: organise the printing of flyers and send these to those on the distribution list.

Role and Responsibilities of Infection Control Advisor

Pre and Post conference

  • Advise INNA members on best practice in relation to all aspects of Infection Control in Renal units
  • Seek expert opinion on unresolved issues & disseminate information to INNA members
  • Participate in local and national education meetings

Role and Responsibilities of Paediatric Advisor

Pre and Post Conference

  • Advise the INNA members on issues pertaining to care of the child and young adult with renal disease.
  • Link with specialist nurses in the adult setting to expand training and educational opportunities as well as advocating for children within the larger population of renal disease.
  • Build upon professional networking and promote the speciality of paediatric nephrology nursing through conference and presentation speaking and acting in an advisory capacity to the INNA.

Role and Responsibilities of Anaemia Advisory Group

Pre and Post conference

  • To provide professional and clinical support to nurses specializing in the management of anaemia
  • To encourage best practice through sharing and dissemination of new developments in the area of renal anaemia and ESA therapy
  • To encourage the instigation and participation in research projects and subsequent involvement in presenting any findings at relevant conferences
  • To develop the role of the anaemia nurse as an expert in this specialised area of nephrology nursing

Role and Responsibilities of Link Nurse

  • Link Nurse to be a member of INNA, and to increase awareness of the Association among Renal staff.
  • To encourage staff to become a member of INNA and promote use of its website.
  • To promote workshops run by INNA by advertising flyers and posters in the workplace.
  • To share information from INNA committee to wider renal staff.
  • Link nurses to feedback to INNA committee on topics renal nurses would like to see discussed in future workshops.
  • To share any ideas on how to further develop the role of INNA.
