The 19th National Conference and Annual General Meeting for INNA took place on April 5th 2019 in the lovely Clayton Hotel, Galway City. The theme for the day was Infection Prevention and Control as Applied to Practice across Adult and Paediatric Renal Settings and the expert line up was second to none. Delegates were welcomed by Tea/Coffee and scones in a charming reception by our kind sponsors which offered an opportunity to network and catch up with our colleagues across the country. There was a strong attendance from nationwide and we welcomed members old and new.

Delegates enjoyed presentations and interactive opportunities on topics such as Infection Prevention & Control standards, CPE management and Virology diagnosis, prevention, surveillance and management in the dialysis setting. All presenters welcomed questions and there were some very interesting conversations generated.

After a delicious lunch, round table workshops took place to facilitate brain storming, information sharing and discussion between various units across the country on standard precautions, care bundles and locks, dressings and cleansing solutions in the renal setting. There was a great buzz in the room throughout this and it was fantastic to see a room full of renal nurses all striving for improved outcomes for our patients.

INNA’s annual AGM was held in the middle of the day with valuable feedback from members and plenty of ideas for our workshop later in the year as well as food for thought for our Anniversary celebrations in 2020. We also established invaluable INNA link nurses for many of the units. We look forward to seeing you all at our Autumnal session in County Wexford.
